MHS Highlights for 03.13.09

  • Milton High School’s two LifeSmarts teams took 3rd and 4th place while competing in Wednesday’s state tournament in Boston. Congratulations to Captain Ben Richman and teammates Jay Rosenberg, Christine Hui, Linda Nguyen and O’Neil Val-Pierre who finished third, and Captain Rashawn Pouchie with Ciaran Conners, Shane Grey, Tucker Kibbee and Mike Rodensky who finished fourth.
  • Attention ALL juniors and seniors!  Anyone interested in participating in Mr. Milton, please sign up in Mrs. Damiani’s room.
  • Spring Sports begin March 16 – Last day for signups – Monday from 2:30-4:30 pm in the athletic office. Students should have updated physicals, user fee check of $200 and a permission slip if they have not gone out for another sport.
  • The Key Club will be selling green carnations for St. Patrick’s Day delivery at all 3 lunches today. Send your friends a little “luck ‘o the Irish” on March 17.
  • GSA meeting after school today in room 310. Exciting opportunities abound. New members are welcome.
  • Drama meeting immediately after school today.  Auditions will be on Monday in room 224.
  • Ping Pong Club free play and tournament today. The two “new” tables are assembled and ready for play. The ladder is getting crowded. Can you hold on to your rung?

  • Any boy interested in playing Tennis, should report to Room 109 on Monday at 2:30.
  • Outdoors Club will meet on Monday after school.  Bring your pictures from the Lonesome Lake trip.  We will be designing Club t-shirts.  New members welcome!
  • Come hear the MHS and the PMS Jazz Groups celebrate Music in Our Schools Month on Monday, March 16 at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria.

  • Any student who picked up an application for the American Legion Student Trooper Program is advised to pick up a revised application in guidance.  The American Legion Student Trooper Program in cooperation with the Mass. State Police Academy is open to male or female students age 15 to 17 years old.  Students must be highly motivated and seriously interested in a career in law enforcement.  The summer 2009 two-week program costs $250.  Applications are available in guidance.
  • Community Service:  The Milton Public Library needs approximately 150 volunteers for the opening weekend – April 4 and 5. Information can be found at Milton Public Library Opening on Facebook.  Please sign up in community service.
  • Attention all Spain travelers the countdown begins.  There will be a meeting for parents and students at 6:00 on Wednesday, March 18, 2009. All students must attend and have a parent present.
  • Attention Seniors! Bay State College will be here at Milton High School on March 19th from 2:30 -3:30 for an On-Site Application Day. If you are interested in applying to Bay State and have not yet applied, you can come to the Guidance Office to pick up an application and sign up to speak to the Admissions Representative. Bay State College requires an essay, so be prepared and pick up your application early. The application fee will be waived. You will know within a few days whether or not you have been accepted. If you have any other questions please see your Guidance Counselor.
  • The Milton High School Key Club and Sewing Club are sponsoring a prom dress sale on March 25.  In anticipation of this event, the clubs are asking for donations of gently used prom dresses. Dresses will also be accepted on consignment. Donations may be dropped off in Room 243 by March 24. See Mrs. Donnelly, Mrs. Cove or Mrs. Lovett with questions.
  • The College Board is offering free online live sessions with key people from the AP Program and the SAT Program on March 26 and 27.  A copy of the flyer is available in guidance.  Log onto www.collegeweeklive.com
