2013 Fall Town Meeting Attendance; 11 members have 100% absence record

One of the articles that recently passed Town Meeting amended a bylaw to have the Town Clerk promote the importance of town meeting and step up efforts to take advantage of media outlets to educate residents on the importance of town meeting membership and the process for becoming a town meeting member. Attendance was also an issue on Tuesday.

2013 Fall Town Mtg Day 2 – Hendries cleared to be put out to bid – again; another PB article referred back

Town Meeting resolved the remaining 7 articles on the fall warrant with surprisingly little fuss. Articles 12 and 13 received the lion’s share of attention from town meeting members. They were hinged in that taken together they unshackled the town owned portion of the Hendries property from a article passed in 2007 Town Meeting and allow the Board of Selectmen (BoS) to sell that property to someone other thanCarrick Realty Trust. Carrick Realty owns the adjacent portion of the parcel. As Town Counsel John Flynn noted, “It’s a little complicated.”

Dry weather blamed as brush fires plague parts of Mass.

A fire at the Blue Hills Reservation in Quincy that began Monday night burned for much of Tuesday and continued to smolder into the night, firefighters said. Firefighters also responded to a blaze on Bald Hill in Beverly, and one in Boston’s Stony Brook Reservation, where firefighters returned for the fourth consecutive day. (Read the full story here.)
