A night of music

The afterschool ensembles gave a performance earlier this week. Those lucky enough to be in the audience heard the jazz band, the Mixed chorus, two string ensembles and more. You can read more about the concert here.

Ms.Carmen Ortiz, Milton resident, in line to become U.S. Attorney

Ms. Carmen Ortiz, a Milton resident, has been nominated to be the top Massachusetts federal law official. If confirmed, Ms. Ortiz will be the first woman and first Hispanic U.S. attorney in the state. You can learn more about her nomination here and the support she has received here.

Behind the scenes at the police department

The Milton Police Deparment is giving a series of forums about the operational workings of the police department. The Patriot Ledger wrote a summary of the session they attended. You can find that story here. The police initially targeted these sessions for Town Meeting Members. They have been opened to the public. You can learn more about the schedule and sessions here.

Milton tops Dedham 5-4

The Milton Wildcat baseball team outlasted Dedham in a tough 15 inning game. The Wildcats won it 5-4. Cole Durgin, catcher and member to the graduating class, drove in the winning run. He had five hits altogether.  Great game Wildcats!

State’s top court reinstates charge against man accused of trying to murder Milton cop

The state’s highest court has reinstated an attempted murder charge against fired Duxbury police officer Sean Moran, who is accused of trying to kill his girlfriend, a Milton police officer, in Quincy.

Superior Court Judge Janet Sanders dismissed the attempted murder  indictment against Moran in April, but the Supreme Judicial Court reversed that decision on Friday. “We conclude that the evidence before the grand jury was sufficient to prosecute the defendant,” the court said. Milton resident visits Greensburg, Kansas

Milton resident Daryl Warner is in Greensburg, Kansas.

What is he doing there? Good question.

Greensburg, Kansas was devastated by a tornado on May 4, 2007. The town is rebuilding itself and going “green” in the process. Any rebuilding effort of this scale takes a lot of time, money, and resource.

Chief gives insider’s view of Milton Police Department

For a group of 10 residents and town officials Wednesday night, Milton Police Chief Richard Wells went behind the budget numbers to explain how cuts in police staffing would harm the services provided by the department.

Great Dome Hike in the Blue Hills

The Friends of the Blue Hills together with the Appalachian Mountain Club are leading an 8 mile hike on the Great Dome Foot path with wildflowers & scenic hills, some steep. Estimated time is 6 hours. Hikers will meet at Shea Ice Rink, 651 Willard Street, Quincy at 10:00am.
