Last night’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting began with a brief discussion of a regional Fair Housing Committee. Town Planner Bill Clark appeared before the board to discuss Milton participating with 4 other communities on a joint committee regarding Fair Housing that would likely benefit the participating towns in terms of support from HUD and other federal agencies and housing organizations.

Obituary: Lee Merritt Levitan

Lee Merritt Levitan, of Milton, MA, known by all those who knew her as Merritt, beloved and adored daughter of Richard Alan and Anna Cheshire Levitan, cherished big sister of Hunter Levitan and Joseph Levitan, died on July 3, 2013 in Memphis, TN after being struck by a car in rural Arkansas on Day 12 of a cross-country bicycle trip.

Summer “Bag of Books” Sale at the Library

The Friends of the Milton Public Library invite you to save money on your summer reading at the Annual Summer Bag Sale. Running from July 15 through August 24, you can fill a bag with great books and pay just $5 a bag. All categories in the shop are included with the exception of a few higher priced books that are marked. So, before you go off for your summer vacation, stop by the shop and pick up a bag or two. Shop hours are Tuesdays 10am-2pm, Wednesdays, 6:30pm-8:30pm, Fridays 10am-12noon, and Saturdays 10am-2pm. Frank thoughts on the FAA

The FAA is a large federal agency tasked with the safe, efficient air travel and traffic control. There are over 5,000 flights daily carrying over a million people. In an effort to improve efficiency the FAA recently put into place a RNAV system on runway 33L at Logan. This was the last runway to be upgraded. It was an expensive project and it is done. But what will the impact be and how can it be accurately measured?

Milton tops Stoughton in American Legion play

Screen Shot 2013-07-08 at 6.55.34 AMRoy Chambers reports that last Friday, July 5, 2013, Milton Post 114 ( 7-8 ) played Stoughton Post 89 ( 5-6-1) on a hot sweltering day, behind the pitching of Duncan Finigan defeated Post 89 12-5. Finigan’s controlled pitching, striking out 9, kept the Stoughton players in a deficit throughout the hot afternoon’s game. You can view a great slide show of the game here.
