The Honorable George N. Hurd, Jr., known to his grand and great grandchildren as “JG”, a life long resident of Milton, Massachusetts died on the 2nd of September, 2013 in Quincy, Massachusetts . He was ninety-three.

Harvest Festival at Milton Farmer’s Market this week

It is a special week at the Milton Farmer’s this week as they host the Harvest Festival. A variety of artisans and crafters will be on hand as well as a great assortment of vendors offering a variety of local produce, fish, and more. And there are bike coupons too for those arriving on bike wearing a helmet.

Cullinane takes Milton handily in election win

Dan Cullinane was elected the new Representative to the legislature for the 12th Suffolk district which includes precincts 1 and 2 in Milton. Cullinane trounced the opposition in an election with a very light turnout.

Don’t forget today is the day to elect a representative to the 12th Suffolk seat. There are three candidates Democrat Dan Cullinane and Independents Lincoln Larmond of Mattapan and Milton’s own Edmond Romulus for the 12th Suffolk House seat.

Boosters Seeking ‘Cans for Cats’

The next Milton High School Boosters “Cans for Cats” can & bottle recycling drive will be held on Saturday, September 14th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Milton High School. The girls indoor and outdoor track teams will be at the front entrance of the high school, 25 Gile Road, to collect your 5 cent cans and bottles to redeem them for cash. All funds earned will support their program. Please stop by and support your Wildcats with your can donations. Go Wildcats!

Milton Reads invites all to Gardner Museum Tour event

Enjoy a fall day at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in comfort! Bus transportation, museum admission, and a guided tour will be provided on Saturday, September 21 for a fee of $20 per person. Russian vocal ensemble Lyra to perform at St Michael’s Church

LYRA, a Russian vocal ensemble from St. Petersburg, will perform at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Milton this Thursday, September 12, at 7:30 p.m., as part of the Music at St. Michael’s series. The a capella group sings sacred music, Russian folk songs, and works by well-known and little-known Russian composers.The concert is free and open to the public; a freewill offering will be accepted.

Town Hall Notice: Public comment invited on Dunkin Donuts request for increase in hours

The Town has had a request from the management of the Dunkin’ Donuts franchise in the East Milton business district to extend its hours of operation from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. This request and how it will impact the neighborhood will be a topic of discussion for the Board of Selectmen at its October 3, 2013 meeting. A representative from Dunkin’ Donuts will be present to answer questions from the Board of Selectmen and residents.
