As of this morning, MyTownMatter is suspending publication. The decision was a difficult one. It has been a great experience, circulation has never been better, and so it is fitting to end on a high note. I’ve learned a tremendous amount, and it’s time to move on.
So thank you . . . to everyone who has had an interest over the years and gave their support: the advertisers, the commenters, and all the readers. The goal was to provide timely news and commentary about this town, our town, that was accurate, fair, and interesting. Having an active readership that would call me to task from time to time was a good thing.
Lessons learned? No one is always right, the truth is almost always grey, and action and inaction both have consequences.
In closing, please remember that this is a great town made great in part by the people who serve it. Our elected officials and the countless volunteers who serve on committees deserve our thanks. But it is our town and ultimately, we are all responsible for it.
Ah Frank. Your dedication to the craft of local news and commentary has deeply enriched Milton’s political and social dialogue. That is the great public good that media aims for, but is so absent today on a national and local level. The passing of mytownmatters leaves a void in the public affairs of Milton that is not likely to be filled. That is a measure of how much we owe you for your years of effort on our behalf. Thank you, Frank.
Thank you, Frank!
You did a tremendous job and will be sorely missed.
Enjoy the many hours of free time you’ll now have!
Boo Hoo.
I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said, more eloquently.
I have to try, though.
You personally and singlehandedly filled a void many of us didn’t even know existed, but now we don’t know how we’ll go on without.
The personal aspect must have been exhausting, but it was also your magic. When I sent a press release or a photo to you (and to the equally awesome Milton Times, to be fair), I got a personal response and I felt someone on the other end not only saw it but also cared. Sometimes that reply came from the West Coast, but it always came! And always with a personal spin.
I hope whatever you have lined up for “what’s next” is fulfilling.
I hope this outpouring of support has confirmed for you what a positive impact 02186.mytownmatters.com has made on this small town.
“Thank you” is all I’m left with.
I’m confident we’ll bump into each other in the neighborhood. Maybe surveying the impact of the next hurricane. But the impact the absence of your direct, measured, insightful, unbiased voice in the Milton media leaves can’t really be measured.
Peace.
Thanks.
May God go with you wherever you go from here.
Steve
(BTW – I take none of this back if all these comments go to your head and you have second thoughts about hanging up your shingle!)
Excellent Outstanding Fair Quick Progressive Clever Frank thoughts
Oh No! What will we do without you! Especially us political junkies.
Thank you for everything Frank.
Hello Frank….your work shines with a humble brilliance. I am a little heartbroken, reading your final post. Selfishly, I will miss your work. I have marveled at your insight, honesty, justice and compassion. Best wishes to you, and truly, thank you!
Thanks all – as well as those who called and emailed me – for your kind words and warm wishes. It’s been humbling and deeply appreciated. To address some points: my health is fine, I am not leaving town, and no one to date has expressed an interest in taking over the reins. But never say never.
WOW! What a shocker!
The optimist in me saw the following in Frank’s post :- “…..MyTownMatter…. is SUSPENDING publication….”
Perhaps one day Frank may miss us as much as we will miss him and, one never knows.
If that is not the case, be well, Frank, enjoy life!
Frank,
You are a very good person who has contributed immeasurably to our public discourse. Most extraordinary was your ability to report cheerfully, without evident bias or cynicism, and accurately. Thanks very much and best wishes to you and Annie with whatever your future holds.

Frank,
Thank you very much for supporting Friends of Milton Crew
I hope you get to do everything you want to do, whether a “bucket-list” or just to put your feet up and enjoy life. Yours has been a tremendous contribution to shining a light where details were being glossed over, where facts were not clear and for allowing everyone to contribute and question. Be well and the very best to you. Most sincerely, JPG
