St Gerard reflects the team intensity

The Milton Wildcats prevailed over Catholic Memorial this afternoon in a commanding 86-68 win in the MIAA Div 2 South finals. A solid bench in the 3rd period, outstanding defense, and an incredible ability to sink 3 point shots put them over the top.

CM got on a roll early in the 4th period but Milton collected itself, took control, and didn’t look back.

Milton will play the MIAA Div2 North champ (winner of Woburn/Belmont game) at TD BankNorth on March 10th at 6:15 PM.

Registration for Girls “Skills & Drills” Lacrosse Program Now Open

Girls in grades 1 – 4 Learn to Play program is now signing up players. Sessions take place one day per week and run from April to early June.

Still in the game Milton’s Randy Omoregie plays full season, despite leukemia

Randy Omoregie walked into his football coach’s office at Milton High School swallowed in a hooded sweatshirt, wearing a smile. Before he could sit down, he was surrounded by assistant coaches reaching out to tap fists with the senior and ask him about his health. On this day, Omoregie is feeling OK, even though he is less than an hour removed from a chemotherapy treatment. (read full story)

Braintree prevails on nifty comeback

The Braintree High School football team rallied from a 13-0 deficit for a 21-13 victory over Milton Thursday.

“It was a team victory,” Braintree coach Dave Flynn said. “We got good play from everyone. We didn’t sulk when we got down right away and eventually came back. The field was tough, Milton was tough and I’m proud of the whole bunch. Maybe we can build on this for the future.” (read full story)

Braintree gears up for Turkey Day showdown against Milton

Another senior class will wind up its high school football career when Braintree hosts Milton Thursday morning in the annual Turkey Day battle between the two long-time rivals.

It’s a class that just fell short of a winning season all three years as varsity players, but still did itself proud with the effort it put forth each day in BHS uniforms. (read full story)

Monster Dash results available online

The results from last week’s Monster Dash, sponsored by hte Milton Foundation for Education, have been posted online. You can view them here. Yours truly managed to cross the finish line for the second year running along with several hundred others. The Monster Dash is run in memory of a Tucker student who died in a tragic playground accident. The proceeds from the race help support science and environmental education in Milton. It is a great cause and a lot of fun. . . so start training for next year!

Milton baseball a team to watch in Division 2

It’s no coincidence that two of the more dominant high school baseball teams in Ledgerland, Milton and Plymouth North, own the two deepest rotations.

Milton boasts dual aces in senior right-hander James Katsiroubas and sophomore righty John Magliozzi followed by steady veteran in senior Ryan Stoller. Katsiroubas (0.60 ERA, 36 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched) and Magliozzi (0.40 ERA, 60 K, 42 inn.) are both 4-0 on the season while Stoller is 3-1. (read full story)
