Run/Walk in the 8th Annual Turkey Trot

The 8th annual Turkey Trot, a 5K fun run and walk, will be held on Thanksgiving morning at 8:00AM.

Paticipants will meet at Turners Pond and proceeds will benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in the memory of Theresa Haley, a Milton resident who passed away at the age of 35 from cancer.

Come run, have fun, and support a good cause!

Discover history and culture from ages long past. Expect to meet live animals, learn oral history through storytelling, and make a cool craft. Attention scout groups! This program will meet many patch/badge requirements.

Milton Monster Dash This Weekend!!

The 10th annual Milton Monster Dash takes place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2008 from Cunningham Park on Edgehill Road as several hundred participants – from the competitive to the costumed – run, jog and walk the course to raise money to benefit the Sam Cichello Memorial Fund, which supports science enrichment in the Milton public schools.  Check out the details here.

After School Nature Club

Join the “wildest” club around! Make art, play games, explore the outdoors, and meet live animals while learning about the wildlife in the Blue Hills. Topics may include the following: birds of prey, nocturnal animals, reptiles, pond study, animal signs, plants, conservation/pollution and forest exploration

Apple press demonstrations, live animal presentations, pumpkin painting, and more will be offered. Enjoy learning about where our food comes from, and a reading of The Lorax.

Blue Hill Weather Observatory Open House and Kite Festival

Enjoy the amazing view, fascinating history and fun activities at the oldest continuously operating weather observatory in the country. Activities include: Rooftop viewing, weather demonstrations, kite making and kite flying, easy and breezy activities for kids, weather exhibits, lectures and displays, and self-guided tours of the Weather Observatory.

All activities at Blue Hill Weather Observatory at the summit of Great Blue Hill.

Event is free. Nominal charge for some activities.

To access the activities at the Observatory:

Walk/hike the 1 mile route to the summit.

Shuttle van available for seniors and special access to summit. (Call 617-696-0562 for details)

No private vehicles allowed.

Directions: Take Exit 2B off Route 93 and head north on Route 138. All event parking at the Trailside Museum south parking lot near the Blue Hill Ski Area on Route 138 in Milton.
