Blue Hills Mountain Bike Discovery Day

Perfect your pedaling power with the DCR Rangers, Blue Hills TrailWatch and the NEMBA.
Let’s hit the trails to kick off the summer season. Work on your skills as we ride with fun obstacles and challenges along the way. Bring your own bike. Helmets are required.

This is the first of three Bike Discovery events in the DCR South Region.

Skills clinics throughout the day. Fun obstacles and challenges along the way. Enjoy guided rides for all ages and abilities.

-Beginner ride at 11am, 12pm, 1pm (2 to 7miles, easy pace and terrain, basic riding skills along the way)
-Novice at 10:15am, 12:15pm (4 to 9 miles, mellow pace, mixed terrain)
-Kids and Family at 10:30am, 12:30pm (2+ miles, easy terrain parents must accompany kids)
-Advanced at 10:45am, 12:45pm (10 to 20+ miles, technical terrain, fast pace, few stops)

The famous and fun Blue Hills Obstacle Course will be open from 10am to 2pm to practice your skills for the trail.
Bike contests will start at 1pm.

South Shore Ballet Theatre presents Coppelia

Great Dome Hike in the Blue Hills

The Friends of the Blue Hills together with the Appalachian Mountain Club are leading an 8 mile hike on the Great Dome Foot path with wildflowers & scenic hills, some steep. Estimated time is 6 hours. Hikers will meet at Shea Ice Rink, 651 Willard Street, Quincy at 10:00am.

Memorial Day: Milton, MA

Memorial Day here is Milton, MA will be commemorated with a laying of a wreath and parade to Milton Cemetery.

The American Legion Post #114 will raise the flag and lay the wreath at town hall at 9:30am. This will be followed by a march to Milton Cemetery where a ceremony will take place featuring speakers and music.

MHS Afterschool Ensemble Concert

You have one last chance to hear Milton high School musicians perform.

The afterschool ensembles will be performing Tues night and it is sure to be a great event. The afterschool ensembles include a range of musical groups: Afterschool Singers, the String Quartet, etc.

These performances are always fun, always good and the musicians are always grateful for the support of the community.

Go hear them! You’ll love it!

Milton PTOs to host FY10 Budget Forum

There will be a joint meeting of all Milton PTOs to convene a Fiscal Year 2010 Budget Forum at Pierce Middle School Auditorium on Thursday, May 21st starting at 7 PM. The purpose of this Budget Forum will be to educate the community about the town’s FY10 fiscal outlook, and the override ballot question scheduled for June 8, 2009. Many officials from the School Committee, Board of Selectmen, and Warrent Committee will be there.

The Milton Foundation for Education invites you to their annual “Outstanding Teacher of the Year Awards.” The evening begins with a reception with refreshments and appetizers at 6:00. Followed by the presentation ceremony at 7:00.

Of Flesh and Stone: Meet South Shore author Mark Conte

Listen to Mark Conte discuss his novel, “Of Flesh and Stone,” a subtle “woman’s” story told thorugh the eyes of hte book’s mail character Donovan Scali. Follow Donovan’s stroy of survival and odyssey through life on the pages of this novel.

Milton High School Spring Concert

Come hear several fine music ensembles next Wednesday when the musicians of  Milton High School perform their annual spring concert. This is the performance that will showcase a school year’s worth of hard work on part of the band, the string ensemble, the chorus, and the jazz band.
