Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/Milton is hosting its 19th Annual “Tee Off Golf Tournament” on Monday, September 23rd at the Wollaston Golf Club. Net proceeds from this year’s golf tournament will help offset the costs of healthcare technology used to enhance the safety and efficiency of surgical care.

Columnist Joanna Weiss at Beth Shalom
Boston Globe columnist Joanna Weiss will speak on “Our Culture’s Messages” at a special program of the Sisterhood of Cong. Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills on Sunday afternoon, September 22th, at 2 PM. Ms. Weiss will explore the messages our culture sends to boys and girls, and how some of those messages need to change.
Harvest Festival at Milton Farmer’s Market this week
It is a special week at the Milton Farmer’s this week as they host the Harvest Festival. A variety of artisans and crafters will be on hand as well as a great assortment of vendors offering a variety of local produce, fish, and more. Boosters Seeking ‘Cans for Cats’
The next Milton High School Boosters “Cans for Cats” can & bottle recycling drive will be held on Saturday, September 14th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Milton High School. The girls indoor and outdoor track teams will be at the front entrance of the high school, 25 Gile Road, to collect your 5 cent cans and bottles to redeem them for cash. Russian vocal ensemble Lyra to perform at St Michael’s Church
LYRA, a Russian vocal ensemble from St. Petersburg, will perform at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Milton this Thursday, September 12, at 7:30 p.m., as part of the Music at St. Michael’s series. The a capella group sings sacred music, Russian folk songs, and works by well-known and little-known Russian composers.The concert is free and open to the public; a freewill offering will be accepted.
Town Hall Notice: Public comment invited on Dunkin Donuts request for increase in hours
The Town has had a request from the management of the Dunkin’ Donuts franchise in the East Milton business district to extend its hours of operation from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. This request and how it will impact the neighborhood will be a topic of discussion for the Board of Selectmen at its October 3, 2013 meeting. A representative from Dunkin’ Donuts will be present to answer questions from the Board of Selectmen and residents.

“Embracing Emma” fundraiser seeks support for local family
A group of neighbors and friends have come together to raise funds to support Emma and her family. Emma is suffering from a rare liver ailment, biliary atresia. She is very young and very sick.
