Book Donation Day – Milton Public Library

The Milton Public Library is accepting donations of books to assist them with kicking off their new book store. The effort is being managed by the Friends of the Library.

They are welcoming all books in good condition (no mold please) and they ask that you please not leave books outside in the event the library is closed.

You can drop books off in the wagon in the entrance way during appointed hours or take them inside.

Taste of Spring: Wine & Food Tasting to benefit Milton Hospital

“A Taste of Spring, ” a wine and food tasting to benefit Milton Hospital will feature the MHS Jazz Band, a raffle, and live and silent auctions.

All proceeds will go to purchasing state of the art hospital equipment.

Walking Tour of Milton Cemetery

Anthony Sanmmarco, new chair of the trustees of the Milton Cemetery, will give a walking tour Saturday, June 13 at 10:0am. This 90 minute walking tour will highlight the history and development of Milton Cemetery and discuss some of those buried there, including the founders of Howard Johnson, Fidelity, Bent Cracker, Thatcher Farm and Kidder, Peabody & Company.

Milton fire chief’s retirement dinner set for June 19

A retirement dinner for Fire Chief Malcolm Larson will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 19 at F1 Boston, 290 Wood Road, Braintree.

Larson is retiring July 1 after 32 years with the fire department, the last 11 as chief.

A social hour will precede the dinner.

Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased by sending a check payable to Kathleen Larson, 147 Ferncroft Road, Milton 02186. They may also be purchased from Lt. Brad Ellis of the Milton Fire Department, 617-898-4901, and Chief Charles Foley of the Randolph Fire Department, 781-961-0992. The ticket deadline in June 12.

Milton Parks & Recreation Concert: Part Time Lovers

Milton Hospital Announces 2nd Annual Community Health Day

Free health-focused event features behind the scenes hospital tours, an opportunity to save lives, interactive exhibits, games, snacks and fun for all ages

What to bring:

  • Bike helmet – safety checks will be offered
  • Old cell phones – to be recycled by D.O.V.E.
  • Books and recent magazines in good condition,
  • collected by our volunteers for hospital patients and visitors
  • A few dollars for lunch
  • Sunscreen – it is an outdoor event

The family focused event will feature an array of health-focused interactive exhibits, fun demonstrations and activities for all ages. The “Gallery of Health” will showcase exhibitors from the Milton Hospital family, as well the local community, covering such health issues as heart disease and skin cancer and providing screenings for cardiac health, blood pressure, glucose levels, lung capacity and physical fitness.

Throughout the day, attendees will be treated to presentations that promote healthy and active lifestyles, including demonstrations from Judy’s School of Dance, kickboxing from Fitness Unlimited, karate from Kearney’s American Martial Arts, plus Tai Chi, yoga and music therapy workshops. Cedar Hill Health Care Center of Randolph will also be offering Wii demonstrations.

Wind Energy Committee public meeting
