Discover the New Neponset River Greenway by Bike

6:00 p.m.
Meet at Truman Pkwy. & Fairmount Ave., Hyde Park

See where the new section of Greenway is being built this summer from Mattapan Square to Martini Shell, and learn about the vision of the entire Greenway. Join us for this 10-mile exploratory bike ride led by Doug Mink, Greenway Council member and cycling enthusiast. Helmets required. Registration recommended. Houghton’s Pond Fish Festival

“Catch” some “reel” fun at Houghton’s Pond this summer! Join the DCR rangers and instructors from MassWildlife to learn the basics of fishing in this free clinic. Equipment is available or bring your own if possible. Crafts, games and other fishy activities too! A guaranteed good time.

WHERE: Houghton’s Pond (Take Rt. 93 to exit 3 and follow Fish Festival signs to picnic site 5 on the west side of Houghton’s Pond. )

Joe Sloane, mountain biking enthusiast, to give workshops during LL Bean store opening celebration

Milton resident and mountain bike enthusiast Joe Sloane will be giving presentations at the upcoming opening celebration a  new LL Bean store in Dedham.

The new L.L.Bean, one of the anchor stores at the new Legacy Place (web site here) is opening July 24th and will hold events all that week end (L.L.Bean web site here).

Joe will be giving a presentation “Great Local Mountain Bike Rides” every half hour from 7:00 – 9:00pm on Friday, July 24th. Sloane is a member of the New England Mountain Biking Association. He was awarded the L.L.Bean outdoor hero award last year for his dedication to preserving the outdoors. Joe was instrumental in establishing the Trailwatch program, a program that promotes safe and cooperative  trail use at the Blue Hills. (read more here.)

Evening Estuary Paddle

Join NepRWA for an interpretive tour of historic Lower Mills and the Estuary. A unique way to spend a Friday night! Paddling experience required. Registration required. Location: Milton Landing, Wharf St., Milton. This event is free and part of the Annual Neponset River Greenway Festival, organized by the Boston Natural Areas Network (BNAN). Even though it may seem that everyone you try to meet with is on vacation, and the beach looks inviting, summer actually can be a good time to jump start your job search campaign.

Roni F. Noland, career coach in Milton and former Boston Globe “Job Doc”, will offer proven strategies to make your job search more successful.

Milton 4th of July Races & Celebration!

Fourth of July races at Kelly Field will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

These races are sponsored by the Milton Kiwanis, Milton Board of Selectmen, and the Milton Park Department with assistance from the Milton Fire Department and the Milton DPW.

There will be races, face painting, fire engines, flags, ribbons and ice cream for all in attendance!

Milton Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Library book sale will be held today. Visit the Friends’ new book shop located on the lower level of the library and accessible by elevator. This is a chance to purchase books for your summer reading enjoyment.
