MHS WALK-A-THON FOR SCHOOL SPORTS, CLUBS & ACTIVITIES

Milton High School will be holding a Walk-a-thon to benefit school sports and activities. Following is information on the event.

Our walk to help the Milton High School Athletic and Clubs Program is a fun and fit activity for all students.  Our goal is to help Milton High School raise $50,000 to supplement funding of Milton High School’s Sports, Club and Activity Programs. We hope that each family will participate in the sponsored walk to the best of its ability. Thank you very much for your participation!

Rules

  1. Students may start collecting sponsor money as soon as they receive the pledge sheets. However, all money and pledge sheets must be turned in on the day of the walk, September 26, 2009.
  2. On the day of the sponsored walk, each participant will check in and walk from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; the specified time period at the outdoor track at Brook Field.  Each participant’s walk will be verified at the conclusion of the walkers’ efforts.
  3. At checkout each participant will receive a form verifying four hours of community service for gathering pledges and participating in the walk.
  4. All Milton High School Rules of Conduct apply.

Canines and Coffee – join fellow dog walkers @ Blue Hills

Meet at the Houghton’s Pond main parking lot at 840 Hillside Street in Milton.

Team up with your favorite pooch and a cup of joe on this early morning ranger – led stroll around Houghton’s Pond.

Coffee provided. Dogs must be leashed.

Tucker Neighborhood Association Picnic

The Tucker Neighborhood Association will be holding a potluck picnic in the Peverly Park area of Pope’s Pond Park (at the corner of Canton Ave and Sumner St).

The event will take place September 13 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm. All are welcome!

Special Offer: Members and Affiliates of Forbes House Museum – A Concert Preview!

On February 6, 2010, Boston’s only collaborative choral / orchestral ensemble, Calliope, will sponsor a concert to benefit the Forbes House Museum, featuring music from movies and media, including a film and accompanying score written specifically for the museum and this event.

Calliope is offering tickets to a September 12th performance as a special preview for the February event. Members and affiliates of the museum may purchase tickets at the special rate of three tickets for the price of one (preferred or general admission).

POSTPONED : Forum on Health Care Reform with Congressman Lynch

The town meeting originally scheduled for tonight (8/27) has been postponed in deference to the memorial services for Senator Kennedy. It has been rescheduled for September 3rd.

Congressman Stephen F. Lynch invites constituents of the Ninth Congressional District to attend an open forum sponsored by Curry College on Thursday, September 3rd to discuss health care reform. The forum will be held at the Alumni Recreation Center at Curry College from 6:00 -8:00 p.m.

Last “Bike Friday” event this Friday 8/28

The last in a series of Bike Friday events will take place this Friday 8/28.

Bike Friday is a Boston wide bicycling initiative to encourage folks to commute to work on two wheels.

Groups meet at defined locations throughout the Boston metropolitan area and are guided into town by a trained cyclist.

Milton is one of the further outposts. Riders will be meeting at the Milton Red Line T stop (intersection of Adams and Eliot streets) in Milton Village at 6:45am and departing by 7:00am. The guides will get you to City Hall Plaza no later than 8:30 where you can enjoy a breakfast and expo.
