Event: The Jennifer Kelly Project

One Book, One School. One Night to Remember!

Let’s get together, away from the kids and the school and the laundry and the lists, and gather for a night of laughs and love – catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. There will be delicious hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, raffles, music and loads of goodwill.

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 29th from 7 to 10 pm

WHERE: The View at Presidents Golf Course / 357 West Squantum St / Quincy

COST: $35 per person/cash bar. Please make checks payable to Collicot PTO. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Collicot PTO in its effort to launch the One Book, One School program – The Jennifer Kelly Project.

Event: Centre School’s Fall Fair

The Centre School in Milton will host its seventh annual fall fair Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The fair will include a costume parade, a haunted house, pony rides, games and prizes, face painting, cupcake decorating, a bouncy house, arts and crafts, a bake sale and raffles.

All of the events will take place at the Centre School on Canton Avenue.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children.

1st Annual Pierce Middle School Family Literacy Night

SAVE THE DATE!

The 1st Annual Pierce Middle School Family Literacy Night will be held on Thursday, October 29th from 6:45PM to 8:30PM. The night will consist of a fantastic performance by guest poet, Sarah Holbrook, breakout sessions that address multiple aspects of student engagement in text, and a 600 title book fair. A detailed event schedule will be coming from the school soon.

Special Town Meeting

____There will be a special Town Meeting held at the Milton High School Auditorium on Monday, October 19th @ 7:30pm.

There are three articles in the warrant:

  • a vote to cut the town budget by $331,000 to make up for state short falls. The police budget would lose $176,000 and the schools $111,000.
  • a vote to authorize borrowing funds to support the rehabilitation of a Milton fire fighters medical care
  • a vote to impose a meals tax on local restaurants

Calling all empty nesters

The First Parish Church is calling all Empty nesters on Oct 16th 7-9pm in Parish Hall.

The Caring comm. will host its 2nd annual discussion for those parents who are now facing or have faced the departure of a college bound child.  Whether this is your first child, last or your Malcolm in the middle, we want to hear your thoughts about the transitions taking place in your lives.   So come share your glee, your tears or your concerns, about your next year’s high school graduate with other parents in an understanding and warm environment.

Wine and appetizers will be served – hope to see you there.  Your RSVP (office@fpmilton.org)  would be very helpful for food planning,  but if you forget or just decide to come at the last minute we would love to have you.
