Milton girls remain unbeaten at 5-0

West Nile virus found in Milton

Milton baseball a team to watch in Division 2

It’s no coincidence that two of the more dominant high school baseball teams in Ledgerland, Milton and Plymouth North, own the two deepest rotations.

Milton boasts dual aces in senior right-hander James Katsiroubas and sophomore righty John Magliozzi followed by steady veteran in senior Ryan Stoller. Katsiroubas (0.60 ERA, 36 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched) and Magliozzi (0.40 ERA, 60 K, 42 inn.) are both 4-0 on the season while Stoller is 3-1. (read full story)

Milton voters reiterate no vote on override

Town meeting members on Monday reiterated the message they sent earlier: no override.

As selectmen recommended, members amended eight consecutive articles to remove the “contingent appropriation” language, which referred to the money that would have come from an override of Proposition 2½. (read full story)

McKenzie & Rosmarin National Merit Scholars

Milton High School seniors Alexa McKenzie and Josh Rosmarin were recently awarded $2,500 National Merit Scholarships.

These two members of the MHS 2008 graduating class were among only 2,500 students nationwide to receive this unique academic distinction.

Scholar selection was based on committee members’ appraisal of a substantial amount of information submitted by Finalists and their high schools. Evaluated were each Finalist’s academic record, including difficulty level of subject studied and grades earned; scores from two standardized tests; contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay describing interests and goals; and the recommendation written by a high school official.

This year’s competition for National Merit Scholarships began in October 2006 when more than 1.4 million juniors in over 21,000 high schools took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), . . . Only the 16,000 Semifinalists had an opportunity to contnue in the competition. (read the full release)
