Milton native leads Boston Irish team up to help Haiti orphans

A large group of Bostonians of Irish heritage, chaired by Winnie Henry of Milton and Pat “Doc” Walsh of Dorchester, have gathered to raise funds to support relief efforts for Haitian children orphaned by the January 12 earthquake in Haiti. (Read more here.)

Bob Sweeney won election to the Board of Selectmen Tuesday night narrowly defeating the incumbent Kathy Fagan by 32 votes. There were 5920 votes cast. Mr. Sweeney won by 1/2 of 1%. It was close; but a win is a win. Congratulations Mr. Sweeney!

Report spotlights wide disparities in what insurers pay hospitals

According to the Patriot Ledger, Milton Hospital had the fourth lowest reimbursement rate out of 66 paid by Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Their boasts might have been dismissed as marketing spin before a two-year study released last month by Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office backed many of their arguments.
