Darkness forces 9-9 American Legion tie

A highly eventful American Legion baseball game had an uneventful ending. The Cohasset Post 118 and Milton Post 114 teams traded hits, runs and rallies before darkness forced a 9-9 tie after six innings in District 6 action at Cunningham Park. (Read the full story here.)

Joyce & Timilty welcome the Pierce 8th grade

Members of the Pierce 8th grade class recently visited the state house. On hand to greet them to the state legislative workplace were two Milton residents; Senator Brian A. Joyce and Representative Walter F. Timilty.

State extends comment period, sets tour dates on Neponset path extension

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has extended by more than a month the public comment period for the Neponset River Trail extension. Comments will now be accepted, by email or phone, through August 14. DCR also has scheduled two site walks — on July 22 and July 26— to explore the different alternatives for the trail’s extension into Mattapan and/or Milton. (Read the full story here.)

Red Sox acquire left-hander Rich Hill of Milton

The Boston Red Sox have signed Milton’s Rich Hill, a left-handed pitcher who has a 21-20 big-league record over five seasons. Hill will be assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket, where he will be given a chance as a reliever. Of his 78 major league games, 70 have been as a starter. (See the full story here.)

Court worker denies bail-money theft

Former Superior Court employee James Colin Campbell, 31, of Milton, pleaded not guilty Tuesday in District Court to a charge of larceny of property valued at more than $250. (Read the full story here.)
