Women lose weight, gain friends at women-only gym

Stephanie Barresi has lost 60 pounds over the past eight years while gaining friends, fitness and health. She’s done so by working out at Fitness Unlimited, a women-only gym in Milton that she says offered her a sense of belonging. (read full story)

“To See the Stars,” a true story by Cynthia Mercati, will be performed at Curry College Theatre. The play is about a group of young American girls who fought corruption in the legal system, endured brutality, and challenged unfair labor conditions to win the first industry-wide strike in US labor history.Tickets are $10. For Milton parish, a reason to rejoice

Martha McArthur and Cozie Bailey put their gray heads together and worked side by side last Sunday at the Parkway United Methodist Church in Milton, slicing coffee cake and arranging crackers on trays. McArthur is white and was baptized in the church in the late 1930s. Bailey is black and a relative newcomer, having joined the church 25 years ago. (read full story)

Theater preview: ‘Rumors’ by Milton Players

Loves, laughs and lies in upper Manhattan high society. That’s what was on Neil Simon’s mind – along with some absurdity and intrigue – when he brought “Rumors” to Broadway in 1988.

Simon’s farce ran for 535 performances over two years, first at the Broadhurst Theatre, then transferring to the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. (read the full story)

Run/Walk in the 8th Annual Turkey Trot

The 8th annual Turkey Trot, a 5K fun run and walk, will be held on Thanksgiving morning at 8:00AM.

Paticipants will meet at Turners Pond and proceeds will benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in the memory of Theresa Haley, a Milton resident who passed away at the age of 35 from cancer.
