Despite summer weather that never seemed to cooperate, eight local teams have qualified for the American Legion baseball playoffs.

Milton Post 114, Braintree Post 86, Morrisette Post 294 and Holbrook Post 137 will compete in the District 6 playoffs. In District 10, Hingham Post 120, Hanover Post 149, Plymouth Post 40 and Whitman Post 22 will take the field in the postseason. (Read the full story here.)

Joseph Lynch is Milton’s new Director of Public Works

The town of Milton has seen quite a few personnel changes in the last year of so. We have a relatively new police chief adn town administrator and , a new fire chief, John Grant, just took over a couple of weeks ago from Chief Larson. Most recently, the Board of Selectmen unanimously selected Joseph Lynch to be the director of public works.

School cuts identified and town survey results posted

The school department has identified the staff cuts that will be made to meet FY 2009 budget. You get a link from the original post here.

Milton officials have proposed combining water-main replacement projects to save the town $500,000.

State Rep. Walter Timilty, D-Milton, and Selectmen Chairman John Shields met with House Speaker Robert DeLeo to seek his support for the plan, which would include replacing a nearly century-old town water main. (Read the full story here.)
