Anyone who follows this site with regularity knows that I am a tremendous fan of the Milton High School music program; it’s teachers, and it’s musicians. For years the music faculty at the high school has been providing students with high quality instruction and an overall remarkable learning experience in all it dimensions. They sound just great! Bravo to all.

Fontbonne Academy Reunion Recognizes Milton Alumna Maureen Conlo

Fontbonne Academy hosted its All-Alumnae Reunion this past Saturday, May 14.  Over 125 alums gathered in the Fontbonne Academy foyer for a cocktail reception to reminisce and reengage with one another.    The catered event drew alums from as far as Seattle and Tennessee, and as near as Milton. 

MFE Award Spring Teacher Grants to Milton Public Schools

Some Milton public school faculty received a pleasant surprise on May 17th when they were informed they had received grants from the Milton Foundation of Education ranging from $250 to $1,200 to fund a wide range of educational projects and initiatives.  In what is now a spring tradition, the MFE awarded 21 teacher grants totaling $14, 960.

The Hedin twins, Tommy and Paul, are typical 11-year-olds growing up in Milton, with one difference. The twins are rapidly advancing amateur boxers, as serious about their sport as any 11-year-old can be serious about anything. (Read the full story here.)

Fuller residents hold benefit for arts in the schools

Last night saw quite a crowd at Fuller Village turn out in support of arts education in the Milton Public Schools. Students had work on display and available for purchase. The works were from elementary through high school and included paintings, photographs, and sculpture.

Senate health-care plan gives unions more bargaining power

It will take time to dig into the recent proposals from the MA House and Senate to understand what the impact will be here in Milton. The GIC issue is a hot issue. That is, the refusal of Milton municipal unions to take part in it. There is some question as to how much money the town will or could have saved. Regardless, health care costs are crippling town finances state-wide and that is what is prompting these legislative proposals. An article from Lowell Sun reports on recent Senate plan.
