Hello fellow Milton residents, my name is Kevin Donahue and I am running for a position on the School Committee. I am a graduate of Milton High School, and this fall will mark the beginning of my second trip through the Milton Public School system; this time as a parent, with all the associated hopes and dreams.

It was a thrilling weekend for Milton’s Pee Wee A Team as they represented our community at the State Championship at Loring Arena in Framingham. Milton went in with high expectations and didn’t disappoint in the Round Robin format that included 10 teams.

Chess Tournament at the Library

On Saturday, April 11th, 2015 International Master David Vigorito will serve as tournament director for the 4th annual “Chess-a-Palooza!” – a fun and friendly scholastic chess tournament open to all Milton school students. Players of all abilities are welcome. The tournament will be limited to the first 50 entrants.

AARP discussion at Fuller Village

The Fuller Village Caring Committee invites the community to AARP 2015 with Sandy Albright, AARP Massachusetts State President on Wednesday, March 18th at 2:00pm in the Function Room at 1372 Brush Hill Rd., Milton.

Join Sandy Albright, a longtime Human Services advocate who recently assumed the top volunteer post for the Bay State chapter of AARP, to learn about fraud alerts as well as other important AARP initiatives, including the upcoming White House Conference on Aging.

LeeMichael McLean Announces School Committee Bid

LeeMichael McLean, a current Warrant Committee member and Precinct 10 Town Meeting member, is running for one of two open School Committee seats.  Motivated by his passion for education and desire to give back to his community, LeeMichael hopes to contribute his strong business acumen and his creative energy to keep Milton Public Schools moving forward.

Milton Reads Catches Community Attention!

In its first week, the 2015 Milton Reads program has already resulted in tremendous popular response.  This year’s selection is The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown. A best-selling story of teamwork, fortitude, and history, the book is one of the library’s most popular books ever.

Area churches financially impacted by snowstorms

Snowbanks have prevented St. Agatha’s Parish in Milton from placing its usual schedule of Masses and bingo under its church sign. – JEAN LANG FOR THE BOSTON GLOBE

As it began to flurry again on a recent Sunday, the white flakes coating the cars in the parking lot surrounded by hills of snow, bingo players set up their cards and bright-colored daubers inside the cafeteria at St. Catherine of Siena School in Norwood. (Read the full story here.)

GIRLS HOCKEY: Wellesley eliminates Milton in quarterfinals

Up against a Milton team that dealt them their only regular season loss as well as one of the few ties, the third-seeded Wellesley girls hockey team (18-1-3) used a four-goal performance from junior Kiely Noonan to rout No. 6 Milton, 7-1, in a Division 2 quarterfinal at Gallo Ice Arena. (Read the full story here.)
