The parents of a 1-year-old and a 10-year-old from Dedham and Milton were arraigned yesterday on child endangerment charges after police say they left the children alone in a car in a Foxwoods Resort Casino parking garage while they were inside gambling. (Read the full story here.)
At the last Board of Selectmen’s meeting Henry MacLean, chairman of the Alternative Energy Committee, gave an update on the efforts of the Alternative Energy committee to enable Milton to qualify as a Green Community. Once qualified, Milton would be eligible for $8.1 million in state grants for local renewable and energy efficiency projects.
This is the latest in a series of art works created by students of FAVA (The Friends and Advocates for the Visual Arts). This week’s work is a sculpture by Olivia Done, an 8th grade student at the Pierce Middle School. She created the work while attending a FAVA workshop, Clever Clay Creations.
Cakes, the new cafe, bakery, and sandwich shop located in the old Fallon Building at Central and Eliot Streets is offering a special “Library Cupcake.”
From now through June 15th drop by and enjoy one of these cupcakes and the proceeds go to the Milton Library Foundation. It’s great frosting for a great cause.

The Pierce Middle School student arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and threatening to commit a crime has been arraigned and placed in the custody of the state Department of Youth Services, Milton police said. (Read the full story here.)

The Department of Conservation and Recreation will begin the second annual “Sundays in the Park” in the Blue Hills Reservation, closing a section of Chickatawbut Road to motorized vehicles to open it up more for walkers, bikers and others.
The road will be closed from Saturdays at 8 p.m. until Mondays at 7 a.m. from June 20 through August 29. (Read the full story here.)

The Milton Library’s gala last night at Granite Links was an outstanding success on several levels.
It raised funds for the library, brought together folks with a shared passion for this local institution, and, by way of the speaker, gave those present something to think about.

A five-car, (cq) chain-reaction accident in Milton sent eight (cq) people to area hospitals, police said. (Read the full story here.)
The Pierce Middle School was locked down at approximately 1:00pm this afternoon. The building has been cleared and school has been dismissed. The reason for the lockdown was a tip received that a student was going to be bringing a firearm to school.
