Dear Representative Timilty,
I heard with dismay your comments at the Milton Board of Selectmen Meeting on the subject of the Ulin Rink. You stated, and Representative Scaccia agreed, that you would not support Senator Joyce’s 25 year lease because it could lead to “privatization” of the rink. It’s very important to use words carefully, especially when they might mislead people about issues. (Read the full letter here.)
The Milton Historical Society seeks support in their initiative to conserve a treasured artifact in their collection, a gilded mirror that once belonged to Governor Hutchinson. The mirror is being restored by Susan Jackson of Harvard Art.

The Milton Historical Society is the proud curator of a large gilt mirror that once belonged to the Royal Governor Thomas Hutchinson (1711-1780,) whose home “Unquety” was on Adams Street on Milton Hill.
The Board of Selectmen convened a hearing during their recent meeting to solicit resident feedback regarding the DCR’s plans to extend the bike/pedestrian path from Central Avenue to Mattapan Square. The extension will link the existing path, which runs from Pope John Paul Park to Central Avenue, with the one that is being built between Mattapan Square and the Martini hatch shell in Hyde Park.
Two Milton residents made the news recently. One as the member of a winning crew team and another for his civic service.

At last night’s session the Board resumed the discussion of the Ulin Rink. In attendance were Representatives Walter Timilty and Angelo Scaccia who were there at the invitation of the board to discuss their views on Ulin Rink and the House legislation regarding it.
This is the latest in a series of art works created by students of FAVA (The Friends and Advocates for the Visual Arts). This week’s work is a cartoon strip by Timothy Karoff, a 4th grader at the Glover Elementary School. He created the cartoon while attending a FAVA workshop, “inking COMICs”.
