Milton police chase suspect of early morning car breaks

Milton police spent 45 minutes chasing a suspect in multiple car breaks through backyards and a brook, but eventually caught up with him and arrested him.

Services for Mary Nangeroni

Mary Nangeroni passed away on June 23rd. There will be a wake for Ms. Nangeroni on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at St Elizabeth’s in Milton on Friday at 10:00pm. She was active in civil rights and worked on the organizing committee for Milton’s No Place for Hate program.

Monday, June 17
Theft: At 11:30 a.m., police received a report of a theft from Al Thomas Nursury on Randolph Avenue. An employee saw a person purchase a $10 flower, then take a hibiscus tree and put it in the front seat of that person’s car. The tree was valued at $100. (Read the full story here.)

This past April, Kelli and Kaitlin competed in the New England Country Star Search competition which is presented by NECMO – New England Country Music Organization.

The awards show was today at the Performing Arts Center in Chelmsford MA. The girls had a clean sweep!

A fond look back at the Milton Music Fest & Fireworks

Remembering Lovie Regina Elam

Screen Shot 2013-06-22 at 9.00.18 AMOn June 7, 2013 Lovie Regina Elam of Milton passed away from a sudden heart attack. She was 54. Her family was one of the first black families to move into Milton. As a young girl, Lovie Elam was well traveled and even won a blue ribbon at a horse show. From first grade to twelfth grade, she attended and graduated from Milton Academy (Class of 1976) with her younger, surviving siblings, C. Richard Elam, Esq. of Holland and Brenda L. Elam of Milton.

Karen Cahill to be new Director of Guidance at MHS

Karen Cahill has been hired as the new Director of Guidance for Milton High School.

Ms. Cahill has been with the Milton Public Schools since 1993. She began her career at the Pierce Middle School where she served as both a math teacher and later a guidance counselor. She then moved to Milton High School where she has served as a guidance counselor since 2009. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Boston College, a Master of Counseling degree from UMass/Boston;

Scholarships awarded to Library Pages

Screen Shot 2013-06-21 at 1.26.53 PMTwo Milton High School seniors each received a $500 scholarship from the Trustees of the Milton Public Library (MPL) on Monday, June 17, 2013 in recognition of their employment during school and their contributions to the MPL as Library Pages. Samantha Brennan (center) will be attending the University of Tampa and Ellen Chow (right) will be attending the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the fall. MPL trustee chair Brendan McLaughlin is depicted on the left.
