Milton a mecca for bingo buffs

Bingo is booming at St. Agatha’s.

Every Monday evening, as many as 400 people, many of them from out of town, take their places at long tables inside the parish auditorium. They sit on metal folding chairs, not to worship but more for the fellowship, bent over rows of cards with colorful ink daubers in hand, listening for numbers and letters to be called, hoping to win so they can yell out “Bingo!’’ (Read the full story here.)

The EPA recognizes Tucker and Milton High for energy efficiency

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently recognized the Tucker Elementary School and Milton High School as having earned an ENERGY STAR rating.

The Tucker building, located at 187 Blue Hill Parkway and Milton High, located at 25 Gile Road, are now listed on the ENERGY STAR registry at www.energystar.gov/buildinglist. Buildings that earn the EPA’s ENERGY STAR rating use 35 percent less energy and generate 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than similar buildings across the nation.

Local landmark all lit up for holidays

Well, it isn’t exactly new and it isn’t really in Milton; but the Walter Baker Chocolate factory smokestack can now be seen at night and it is pretty stunning.

Now as your drive down Eliot Street and up the hill after nightfall you are greeted by a vision of manufacturing days gone by. The brick smokestack is now lit by four spotlights and it is wonderful architectural touch that illuminates the area’s past history.

Milton Girls Hockey Comes From Behind For Mini 1-on-1 Victory Over Reading

The game of hockey is all about perseverance.
That was key in the Mini 1-on-1 competition between the Milton and Reading girls hockey programs. Reading got out to an early lead as forward Annie Richards struck in the first round with a quick deke move against goaltender Jessica Olivieri.
