Tisdale update: Police officials believe youth fell from plane

This afternoon Norfolk District Attorney Keating held a press conference in which he stated that Delvonte Tisdale likely did fall from the wheel well of an airplane. The flight left from Charlotte for Boston.It is speculated that it was a Boeing flight that left Charlotte at approximately 7:00pm.

Sports news: Milton native Rich Hill back with Sox? Barnstable tops Milton 1-0 in Mini Championshp

The Providence Journal reports on Milton native Rich Hill’s possible return return to the Red Sox. The Journal reports, “General manager Theo Epstein acknowledged Boston’s interest in Hill, saying, ‘We’re talking to him. Very interested in signing him. I think he’s very interested in being here.'”

Senator Joyce of Milton among State House leaders appointed to Probation-legislation committee

Senate President Therese Murray appointed Milton Senator Brian A. Joyceto the Probation Reform Working Group along with  Senators Cynthia Stone Creem and Michael R. Knapik. Governor Deval Patrick and House Speaker Robert DeLeo also made three appointments each to the group. The committee’s charter is to examine the current system, review best practices of other states and make recommendations for a comprehensive reform bill due in January.

School administration identifies level budget cuts

At last night’s School Committee meeting Superintendent Gormley, Assistant Superintendent Phelan, and Business Administrator Matt Gilles reviewed the the $1.5 million in cuts that would be made in services and school personnel for FY12 if a level service budget is necessary.

Ireland lists public outreach, staff support as top court priorities

Milton resident Roderick Ireland has been confirmed as first African American Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court in Massachusetts.

The new doodad at Town Hall

You may have noticed that there is a digital display device affixed to town hall just inside the left side entrance. It is an effort on the part of town officials to comply with the open meeting law. You can learn more about the open meeting law that went into effect last July here.

One of the requirements is that meeting notices be available to the public in a timely fashion. This thingamajig does that. But you need to be patient.

Police hold on to car involved in North Carolina teen’s mysterious death
