Mtg notes: Selectmen 02.08.13 (a) – Residents object to flight path

The principal issue discussed at last night’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting was the proposed change to the use of Logan’s runway 33L which will increase flights over Milton and neighboring communities. A special citizens speak was set aside for the issue The first person to speak was State Senator Joyce.

Dedham and Randolph concerned about FAA flight path

Recent articles speak to quite a bit of concern over the FAA’s proposal to alter flight paths. Residents in affected communities are concerned about incessant noise. The Milton Board of Selectmen will be taking up the issue this Thursday at their session which will be held at the Council on Aging. Here are some articles reporting other towns’ concerns:

Letter: Senator Joyce seeks more thorough review of environmental impacts for proposed FAA runway

Dear Milton neighbor,

The FAA has proposed a new departure route from Boston Logan International Airport that would fly directly over Milton, beginning on March 7th.  This flight path will have a significant adverse impact on the quality of life in Milton, particularly for those of you who live near Curry College, Route 138, as well as parts of Canton Avenue and Brush Hill Road.

Plans to change Logan flight paths causing concern

The Globe  has a story on the FAA’s new proposed flight path. Milton is not alone in its concerns about the detrimental effects that may result. (Please see: Residents concerned about proposed flight path; petition initiated). Randolph and Dedham officials are voicing opposition. Milton Selectman Denis Keohane is quoted in this article as being against it. Wig Zagmore, the Logan Airport Community Advisory Committee’s vice-president, claims the new path will improve the situation for East Milton residents. You can find the article here.

Residents concerned about proposed flight path; petition initiated

Residents are voicing concern and opposition to the FAA’s proposed flight path over Milton. The topic came up informally at a focus group during yesterday’s Master Plan forum at Tucker School and an online petition has been started urging the FAA to stop runway 33L from flying over Milton.

FAA proposes new flight path over Milton, Canton Randolph

The following coverage provides some comments on the FAA’s proposed flight change from Judy Kennedy, Milton’s liaison. Ms. Kennedy will be appearing before the Milton Board of Selectmen at their February 7th session. The article states that, “The proposed flight path is over Curry College, Route 138, parts of Canton Avenue, Brushfield Road as well as other areas in Milton, Canton, and Randolph.” Ms. Kennedy characterizes the proposal as “unacceptable.” You can find the full story here.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is proposing a new airplane departure route for Runway 33 that will fly directly over Milton.

Judy Kennedy the MASSPORT liaison for the Town of Milton will be attending the February 7th Board of Selectmen meeting to discuss this important issue in its entirety.
