We have been aware of this project for some time but did not know quite what to make of it. And still don’t. But it is interesting. The project, The Sky Over Milton, is a performance piece by pearldamour (Katie Pearl and Lisa D’Amour) that compiles information and stories from all the cities/towns in America named Milton. There are five. In addition to . . . here . . .there are Miltons in North Carolina, Wisconsin, Louisiana, and Oregon.

Lisa D’Amour was recently profiled in the New York Times (view the article here). Her partner on the project Katie Pearl was here in Milton just last week visiting with Citizens for a Diverse Milton. This is seems to dovetail with the purpose of the show to extent I can understand it which is to reflect the diversity of points of view, occupations, and character of towns that share the same name.

The two are collecting info and staging performances. You can learn more about the project on their web site – The Sky Over Milton. You can also participate by answering questions that they post periodically. The list of questions can be found here.

It looks like fun and we look forward to the day they stage a performance here.
