Brief bits: Hendries demo date reset for 1/31/15; Board of Health votes to expand tobacco restrictions

by Frank Schroth

In a brief session yesterday morning the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to extend the deadline for demolition of the Hendries building from 11/30/14 to 1/31/15. This is the second extension. The town has a contract with Carrick Realty to jointly take down the building.

The Board voted to increase the age to purchase tobacco to 21. In addition, they also agreed to ban flavored tobacco with the exemption of menthol. You can find the amended tobacco restrictions on the Board of Health web site here. The Expanded Tobacco regulations that were voted on to expand are in RED. These will take effect on February 1, 2015.
