Reminder:The 16th Annual Monster Dash is tomorrow!

Monster Dash

How much fun is it to run around in a Halloween costume? LOTS! and you can at the upcoming Milton Foundation for Education’s 16th Annual MONSTER DASH 5k Road Race and Kids Fun Run taking place on Sunday, October 26 at Cunningham Park.

All proceeds from the event to support science enrichment in Milton’s four elementary schools through the Sam Cichello Memorial Fund.

The Milton Foundation for Education (MFE) invites all to join in on the fun at the 16th annual Monster Dash 5k race and Kids Fun Run to benefit the Sam Cichello Memorial Fund (Sam’s Fund) Sunday, October 26, at Cunningham Park. MFE board member and race co-chairperson Nora Vernazza promises, “There will be something for everyone. You can run or walk the 5K, cheer on the costumed participants, or participate in the Kids Fun Run. And this may just be the year that someone catches Mario!” Participants can also look forward to fun and interactive games and activities led by a spooky DJ, “little kid” and “bigger kid” bouncy houses, hands-on science experiments led by MPS Elementary Science Coordinator Bernadette Moonan, crafts and rocket balloons sponsored by the Toy Box, “Science from Scientists” program demonstration, Trailside Museum owl presentation and more. This is a wonderful community event for kids of all ages. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, most creative and best themed costumes.

Once again there will be a Monster Dash artwork competition. Children are encouraged to create their best Halloween-themed design and submit one entry by Wednesday, October 8th. Entry forms are available online at miltonfoundationforeducation.org at the elementary school offices.

All proceeds of the Monster Dash benefit the Sam Cichello Memorial Fund, which was created in 1999 in loving memory of Sam Cichello, a Tucker Elementary School student who died tragically following a playground accident. To honor Sam’s love of science, all proceeds of the Monster Dash-Sam’s Fund support science enrichment in Milton’s four elementary schools. Examples of past Sam’s Fund sponsored programs include Grade 3 Trailside Museum Owl Talks, Grade 4 Blue Hills Landform hike and Grade 5 Boston Harbor Ocean trip.
