Bernie Lynch Saluted for over 45 years of community service – Thank You Bernie!

by Frank Schroth

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALast night was the final Planning Board meeting for Bernie Lynch who has served on the board for over 25 years and it didn’t go unnoticed. Senator Brian A. Joyce presented Mr. Lynch with a senate proclamation honoring not only his time on the planning board but also as President of Milton Access Television, his work with Milton Hospital, and his long and cherished relationship with his wife Marion.

Denis Keohane, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, also read a proclamation on behalf of the town acknowledging Bernie’s many contributions. And not to be outdone, there was Margaret Donovan. Ms. Donovan has been a frequent attendee at Planning Board meetings over the last several years voicing her concerns regarding developments in her neighborhood which included 36 Central Avenue and the Hendries plant. Ms. Donovan, who said, “You always made me feel welcome and treated me with dignity and respect.”

Ms. Donovan then referenced the Hood plant that caught fire and the “burnt roasted turkeys” that were a consequence of that unfortunate event. “I did not bring some burnt roasted turkeys but I did bring some Hoodsies,” which she handed out along with some cookies from Dancing Deer. It was a small but sweet gesture to thank a man who has served the town for so long.

Thank you Bernie.

Bernie epitomizes the highest level of community service, a level we hope will be achieved by future residents.
