Opiate Abuse Stirs Gov. Patrick To Declare Public Health Emergency

Editors note: MPD Chief Wells has long sited drug use as being at the root of a rash of car and house break ins. This article speaks to specific steps Governor Patrick is taking to address the issue. Locally, DA Morrisey and Chief Wells were at the senior center discussing how to dispose of drugs.  According to the Milton Times, “Morrissey praised Wells and the Milton Police Department for reinforcing their aggressive drug enforcement efforts with education and prevention work like Friday’s event. ‘We cannot arrest our way out of the opiate epidemic. The more that law enforcement works with citizens to stop addictions from developing, the more successful we will be.'” (See full story here.)
