Milton Historical Society to host commemoration of Gettysburg Address

In observance of the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address, November 19, 1863, the Milton Historical Society will present a free program “Four Score and Seven: Remembering the Battle of Gettysburg through Maps” on Tuesday, November 19, 2013. The program will take place at 7 P.M. in the Keys Room of the Milton Public Library.

The Milton Historical Society is honored to welcome the guest speaker Ronald E. Grim, Curator of Maps for the Norman B. Leventhal Map Center at the Boston Public Library. Mr. Grim is the world’s expert on maps of the battle at Gettysburg. And he is known as a dynamic, interesting speaker!

Ron Grim assumed his position at the BPL in 2005 after working 33 years for the Federal government with the nation’s two largest map collections at the National Archives and the Library of Congress. He has curated five Library of Congress exhibitions and most recently 3 exhibitions at the Boston Public Library. Grim has published widely, has taught courses on historical geography, and serves in various capacities of leadership within professional cartography and geography.

The program is suitable for all audiences. It will include a reading of the Gettysburg Address. Light refreshments will be served.

This event is part of the Milton Historical Society’s ongoing programs for the public.
