Do you know who Dan Cullinane is?
You should if you live in Precincts 1 or 2. He may be your next representative in the Massachusetts legislature. Cullinane is one of three Democrats running for 12th Suffolk State Representative. The other two are Marydith Tuitt and Stephanie Everett. Last night in a crowded American Legion Post on Blue Hill Avenue Cullinane received two endorsements; one from Suffolk County Sherriff Steve Tomkins and the other from State Senator Brian A. Joyce, a MIlton Precinct 2 resident.
Cullinane looks like he is about to graduate from middle school, but the baby face belies a political sophistication. He can work a room. And while his staff were managing the event, it was obvious he was calling the shots. Not a surprise when you learn he was Linda Dorcena Forry’s Field Director. Ms. Forry was recently elected the first Haitian American woman to the Massachusetts senate. It is the seat she vacated in the legislature that is being contested.
Senator Joyce entered the room to applause and was direct in his comments. He said Cullinane had “the skill set and the values we collectively share to hit the ground running. . . I am honored to endorse him.”
To be successful, Joyce said, it was critical to get out the vote. “It is unbelievable,” he said, “how many people won’t vote” due to vacations, the heat, whatever. He encouraged all present to get a hold of whoever they knew who care about the outcome and get them to the polls on August 13th the date of the primary. Milton residents in Precincts 1 and 2 should make a stop at the polls that day. These are the candidates with links to their web sites or Facebook page: Dan Cullinane, Stephanie Everett, Marydith Tuitt.
