FHM Announces 2013 Lincoln Essay & Drawing Contest Winners

News release from the Forbes House Museum

The Forbes House Museum is please to announce the winners of the 2013 Lincoln Essay & Drawing Contest. In total, 994 entries were received, including 676 essays and 318 drawings.

An awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, 14 April 2013 at 2pm at the Pierce Middle School Auditorium. All are welcome.

Contest winners are from the four public elementary schools in Milton (Collicot, Cunningham, Glover, and Tucker Schools) and Pierce Middle School. Winning entries are also from St. Agatha School, St. Mary’s of the Hills School and St. Brendan School.

For the first time, winning entries have come from the Dean S Luce School and the Lt. Peter M. Hansen School of Canton and the Russell Elementary School, Dorchester.

Kindergarten:

This year, the FHM Lincoln Committee enlisted the expertise of local artists and arts organization administrators to choose the winning drawings. The Drawing Committee members are: Julia Blackbourn, Joan Clifford (Milton Art Center), Tsun Ming Chmielinski, Andrea Kunst (Dorchester Arts Collaborative), Beth Neville and FHM Assistant Director, Rebecca Wright.

The Essay Committee consisted of FHM Lincoln Committee members and educators. They are: Carolyn Damp, G. A. Di Gregorio, Jacqui Rossi Donlon, Robert P. Forbes Ph.D., Pam Orchard, Kenny Richardson, Alyssa Richardson, Ariel Richardson, Jillian Richardson, Harry Robinson, Tim Sorgi, Margaret and James Sullivan, Thomas Turner Ph.D., Mary Wendell, Rhode Island Chief Justice Frank Williams (ret) and Robin Tagliaferri, FHM Executive Director.
