The Milton Public Library’s teen book club has selected Shadow and Bone, a young adult fantasy novel about a land under attack by flesh eating monsters and the young woman who may have the power to save it, as its April pick. Alina Starkov is a junior cartographer (and not a very good one) in the army. When her unit is crossing the Shadow Fold, a dark area inhabited by monsters, her best friend is attacked and Alina, desperate to save him, reveals a power even she wasn’t aware she had and is quickly drawn into the battle to save Ravka from the Shadow. Publishers Weekly called Shadow and Bone “a memorable adventure [offering ] action and intrigue mixed with an undercurrent of romance and danger.”  Join the book club at 7 p.m. on April 8 to discuss this action-packed read.

The teen book club is open to ages 13-18. To obtain a copy of the book or for more information, please contact Emily Calkins, Young Adult Librarian, at (617) 698-5757 or ecalkins@ocln.org. The Milton Library is located at 476 Canton Ave., Milton, MA.
