Update: Milton High “Stay in place”

Milton High was put into “Stay in Place” status this afternoon. According to an email from Principal Jette sent to parents at 1:45 this afternoon all students are safe and accounted for. All students are required to stay in their classrooms with exception of athletes who have a schedulde sporting event. No one can enter or leave. Vehicles are not being permitted to enter the campus until the Milton Police have finished investigating the school. Early unconfirmed reports are that the police were called to the school. A nail gun or some such was found and a full search of the school was conducted. Students were dismissed around  3:00PM this afternoon.

Following is the initial correspondence from Principal Jette:

Dear Parents/Guardians:

At this point in time, Milton High School is in “STAY IN PLACE” status.

This means ALL teachers and students will continue to work in their classrooms and will not be able to leave for any reason.

The reason for this STAY IN PUT status is to allow the Milton Police to conduct an investigation as there was an object of concern found within the building.

I am not able to provide the details of this case but I want assure that all students and staff are safe and accounted for at this time. As protocol states, no students or staff will be able leave the building and no parent/guardian will be able to enter as the police continue with their investigation.

I will be communicating an update to you via email at approximately 2:05 p.m. with any additional information and the potential impact on dismissal and after school activities.

Thank you for your patience and understanding,

James F Jette
Principal
