Local photographer captures neighborhood diversity

August 1, 2012

by Frank Schroth

Milton resident Deborah Milbauer assigned herself a photo project: to capture the divesity of her neighborhood. Amazed by the breadth and range of cultures, Milbauer approached her neighbors with the idea and was “embraced and encouraged by all of the families who have participated.”

Milbauer states, “They allowed me into their homes, told me their stories of immigration, merging of cultures and love of family. Most of all, they gave me the special gift of their trust. For them, I am deeply grateful for their courage to participate in celebrating the Milton I know and love.”

Timed to contribute to the celebration of Milton’s 350th, the resulting exhibit is still on display downstairs at the Milton Public Library through the end of August. Go see it!

Deb, I looked at a few of your pictures during the summer but hung at the library and read each and every family biography and viewed the pictures last night. What a TREAT! i want to meet all of your neighbors. Thanks for this wonderful exhibit which tells the story of MIlton and its neighborhoods and why we love living here. I can’t believe how we landed here from Plainville, CT. Kris
