Drew Echelson to return as interim principal at Glover Elementary

Drew Echelson who left as principal of the Tucker Elementary School a couple of years ago to attend Harvard will be returning in the fall to take the reins of Glover Elementary on an interim basis. Superintendent Gormley made the announcement in an email sent to parents, guardians and staff yesterday. Echelson will be filling in for current principal Stephanie Nephew who is taking a one year maternity leave at the end of this school year.

Echelson was the Tucker principal from 2006 – 2009. Gormley said about the appointment, “I am confident that Mr. Echelson’s outstanding leadership skills and abilities will guarantee a smooth transition for Glover Elementary School’s staff, students, parents and guardians. I am sure you will join me in welcoming Mr. Echelson back to the Milton Public Schools to this new leadership role.”

Gormley also announced that a screening committee had been formed to conduct the search for a new principal at the Pierce Middle School. The Screening Committee will be: Superintendent Mary Gormley; Assistant Superintendent John Phelan; Tucker Principal Marcia Uretsky; School Committee member Kristan Bagley Jones; Pierce Middle School teachers Kristin Henderson and Joe DeMaggio; Pierce Middle School Assistant Principal Anna McReynolds; and parents/guardians Julie Fay, Jeanne Conley and Paul Hogan.
