Cheryl Tougia,s who ran against Mike Kelly for a Planning Board seat in the recent town election, has requested that the Town Clerk manage a manual recount of all 10 precincts. Ms. Tougias lost the election to Mr. Kelly by 7 votes. Mr. Kelly received 2721 votes and Ms. Tougias 2714. There were 9 ballots cast for other and 929 ballots were blank for the seat. Mr.Kelly’s margin of victory was 0.13% of total ballots cast for a specific candidate.

The recount will take place at Town Hall on May 9th at 5:30. Election workers will perform the recount. Each candidate can have agents present equal to number of election workers. The recount will be overseen by the Town Clerk and Board of Registrars. NOTE: Ms. Toougias has filed the papers for a recount. However, the Town Clerk needs to verify the signatures to validate the request.
