Milton Green Day – Save the Date May 5 to help clean up the town!

Sustainable Milton and the Milton DPW will be hosting Milton Green Day again this year on Saturday May 5th.   School groups, sports teams, neighborhood associations, town clubs, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops and church/temple groups are encouraged to sign up now to take part in this great town-wide event.  Let’s give the town a good spring cleaning and make Milton beautiful!

The DPW will provide garbage and recycle bags and work gloves. (details about pick up of these items will be available closer to May 5th).   If a group can not work on Saturday, they are more than welcome to do their clean up work on Friday May 4 or Sunday May 6. The Milton DPW crews will finish the job starting on Monday May 7 by collecting all of the garbage and recyclables and hauling it away.

As in the past some groups will spend an hour on a busy street corner, while others tackle a whole forest.  Hundreds of Milton neighbors will be working – collecting garbage, recyclables and removing brush. Some groups, like the Pine Tree Brook Neighborhood Association, will take advantage of having neighbors together and share a lunch, play games and reconnect after a long winter. And please note that high school students that participate are eligible for community service hours.

It’s not too early to start organizing your group and choosing your area to clean up.  Please contact Linda Farwell at miltongreendaymay52012@gmail.com to sign up, let us know the area you will clean or ask any questions.
