Ouch! Wildcats fall to Red Devils 6-2 in state hockey championship

The Burlington Red Devils came out swinging and scored early in the first period. At the end of first period score was 1-0. The Devils bedeviled the Cats and scored early in the second period too. Milton manged to stay alive. The score at the end of the second period was 3-1 Devils. Guess what happened in the third period?

The Devils came out and scored early. Burlington played a tougher game, had a terrific defense with especially outstanding play from goalie DeCastro, and stayed possessed throughout. Late in the third period Milton Coach Noonan left the goal empty and brought all his players forward is a furious push that did not pan out. The final score was 6-2.

It was tough but as one fan said leaving the Garden. “I am just so proud of them.” We all are.

The MIAA should seriously rethink the wisdom of having a team’s pep band play the National Anthem. The Burlington Pep Band’s performance was horrific.

Congratulations to the Red Devils!
