Temple Shalom of Milton and its Sisterhood installed new slates of officers and directors at its Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, June 12, 2011. The meeting was held at the Temple’s new temporary spiritual home in the Great Hall of the First Congregational Church. Almost 100 members and friends attended the meeting and installation.

The Temple is pleased to announce that Ronit Voigt, long-time Milton resident and Temple Shalom member, was installed as President. Other officers are: Vice Presidents Marilyn Monderer, Paul Cooperstein, Pamela Shrago, and Karen Friedman Hanna; Treasurer Alan Rosenstein and Secretary Lawrence Rose. Installed as members of the Board of Directors were Dr. Shelley Charnoff, Bill Hanna, Sidney Quint, Robert Rosofsky, Laura Brody Young and Jennifer Zaslow.

The Sisterhood will be led by co-Presidents Arlene Klotz and Marilyn Monderer. Other officers include Treasurer Leah Shrago, Asst. Treasurer Fred Rich, Financial Consultant Douglas Spellberg, Financial Secretary Ronnie Litant, Recording Secretary Ruth Gershman, and Social Secretary Irene Davis.

Ronit Voigt comes to the presidency with a wealth of experience in the synagogue and Milton community. Spiritual leader Rabbi Alfred Benjamin said, “Seeing Ronit take the helm as President of Temple Shalom fills me with a profound sense of hope, not only because of who she is, but also because of her personal history as someone who, along with her parents, fled Germany on the eve of WWII and the coming Holocaust. Ronit’s devotion to the Jewish and wider Milton community reflects an attitude where life is seen as an opportunity to be a blessing to those around us. In Hebrew the name Ronit means ‘singing’ or ‘joyful sounds’. Who could ask for more of a Temple President?”
