Town Meeting – Day 4: $25K approved to kick off new master plan, remaining articles resolved

Last night was the final night of Town Meeting. During a session that was more thinly attended, members dispatched the remaining 6 articles in the 2012 warrant. Four were approved and two were referred back for further study. All the votes followed the Warrant Committee’s recommendations. Following is a quick rundown of the articles. Read more »

Join Dr. Donald Gerry Kennedy, descendent of the family that built the Kennedy home, now known as the Gordon House at Fuller Village, for a fascinating look at historic photos of the property along with lively stories of the Kennedy family. Dr. George Golding Kennedy, Don’s great grandfather, purchased the Shaw Estate in 1879 and built the “Gordon” house which Fuller Village preserved when the property was renovated. Read more »

New trial nears in 1994 Milton killing

The Milton police log: Pius X Church broken into; four-car accident

Here are some recent incidents reported to the Milton police. A full list is available at police headquarters, 66 Highland St.

On May 4 at 7:27 p.m., a security company reported a triggered alarm at Pius X Church on Wolcott Road. The responding officer confirmed the building had been broken into, but did not report finding anyone. The building’s caretaker was notified and secured the window. (Read the full story here.)

The Wakefield Estate Lecture Series: The ‘hidden’ history of a Milton founding family

Wakefield Charitable Trust is presenting a three-part lectures series on the history of the land and occupants of what is today known as the Wakefield Estate, named after its most recent occupant, Mary (“Polly”) Wakefield. The lectures will highlight the origin and evolution of one of Milton’s founding families as a microcosm of the history of Milton over the past 350 years. Read more »
