Town Meeting – Day 2: Clerk & Assessor compensation discussed, all articles covered to date pass

Town Meeting made it through article 18 before calling it a night. the articles discussed all dealt with budget appropriations. These included but were not limited to appropriations for Employee Benefits ($14,556,077), Public Safety ($11,040,641), & Public Works ($15,774,311). All passed, many unanimously, but there were issues discussed and concerns voiced. The Clerk’s salary was one and the assessor’s stipend another. Read more »

Batter up! New ball fields at Houghton’s Pond get a first work out

Senator Brian A. Joyce threw out the first pitch at the first game played on the new Houghton’s Pond Ball Fields in Milton, which were restored with $1 million secured by Senator Joyce. The improved facilities will benefit Milton’s many youth sports leagues, including baseball, softball, lacrosse, and soccer programs. An additional $1.8 million secured by Senator Joyce will allow for future improvements, including increased parking and comfort stations.

Drew Echelson to return as interim principal at Glover Elementary

Drew Echelson who left as principal of the Tucker Elementary School a couple of years ago to attend Harvard will be returning in the fall to take the reins of Glover Elementary on an interim basis.
