At the last meeting of the Planning Board a new chairman was selected and the board held hearings on Hendries and the Milton Hill House expansion. The new chair is Alex Whiteside, Hendries may be inching forward, and the new Hill House development needs work. Read more »

Reception: Photo show captures diversity of a Milton neighborhood

The Milton Public Library, located at 476 Canton Avenue, is hosting a wonderful exhibit during May and June called, “My Neighborhood: 350 Years Later,” by a local amateur photographer in honor of the 350th anniversary of the town. Deborah Milbauer, Milton resident, has taken portraits of families who live in her neighborhood, to show the wide diversity present there. Read more »

Discover the Sufi Religious Tradition at East Church

On Wednesday, May 30th, at 7:00pm, in the Chapel at East Church, there will be an opportunity  to learn about the Sufi religious tradition from members of the House of Sufism in Boston.

Llew Smith, Robert Ames and Mohammad Nooraee will provide insight into how Sufi meditation works, how they feel the presence of Divine Love and how this love translates into service in the world. Read more »

Mtg Notes: School Committee 05.23.12 (2) – MHS receives NEASC accreditation;

At the last School Committee meeting Dr. Arangio, principal of Milton High School, announced that Milton High had been accredited by NEASC. The committee had requested that Mr. Arangio appear to give an update. He was present along with members of the high school administration including Assistant Principal Alan Cron, Assistant Principal Yolanda Beech, and World Language Director Martine Fisher. The team has been working on developing plans and responses to some of the recommendations that had been received to date. Read more »

The Milton police log: racing motorcycles; wires sparking on Canton Avenue

Here are some recent incidents reported to the Milton police. A full list is available at police headquarters, 66 Highland St.

On May 18 at 5:57 a.m., a caller on Truman Parkway reported an unoccupied car with front-end damage parked in the caller’s driveway. When police investigated, they found that the vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run and was wanted by the State Police. (Read the fll story here.)
