Town Election – unoffical results indicate Keohane, Galvin, & Kelly prevail

April 24, 2012

Challenger Denis Keohane has upset John Michael Shields in a close vote. In other closely watched races Susan Galvin the Assistant Town Clerk prevailed over Mike Joyce and Marion McEttrick. And Cheryl Tougias was narrowly beaten by Mike Kelly. Unofficial results have Mr. Kelly with only 7 votes over Tougias.

Both Library Trustee incumbents, Brendan McLaughlin and Barbara Mason,  prevailed. Herb Voigt came in second and secured a spot.

And for Jim Henderson, the third time was a charm, barely. He beat Bill Bennett in another close race. Unofficial results can be found HERE

2012 Town Election Returns

April 24, 2012

Note that every effort is made to be accurate but the official results are with the Town Clerk’s office. We are only tabulating contested town wide offices. We are not tracking uncontested or Town Meeting races. This is offered strictly as “Buyer Beware.” It has been tested and working. The link below connects to a “read only” spreadsheet that dynamically updates when changed.

Returns are expected to begin coming in ~8:30PM.

Poem for today – Summer Solstice

April 24, 2012

During April, National Poetry Month, we are posting a poem a day. If you would like to suggest one, please email it in. Today’s poem is by local poet and MPS teacher Josh Coben. Mr. Coben is the author of Maker of Shadows and winner of the X.J. Kennedy Poetry Prize 2009.

Summer Solstice by Josh Coben

We lie long
and lazy in a short-
sheeted bed: night

is not endless
and will not cover us
past dawn.
