Reminder: Milton Public Library to Host Holiday Jazz Concert

The Milton Public Library will host jazz vocalist Peter Smith and his band on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2 PM for a free holiday concert. The Peter Smith Trio, featuring Yas Ishibashi on keyboards and Ralph Pepe on acoustic bass, will present a wonderful program of songs from the Great American Songbook plus some fun holiday tunes. Front-man Smith is equally adept at the swinging standards as he is delivering a soft ballad.

Meeting: School Committee

The Milton School Committee will be meeting in the MHS library on Wednesday, December 4th at 7:00pm. The agenda includes but is not limited to Superintendent’s mid-cycle review and a discussion with the Milton Foundation for Education.

Milton Animal League Holiday Party

The Milton Animal League will be holding its annual holiday party on Sunday, December 15 from 2-4 pm at Cunningham Park Hall, 75 Edge Hill Rd Milton MA. A professional pet photographer will be available to take photos of pets with Santa Claus for a donation of $10 per photo. There will also be a tag sale with new and gently used items. All proceeds to benefit the Milton Animal League. All pets must be on leash and non-reactive toward people or other animals.

Talk: “Inside the Trial Process” at Beth Shalom

Trial attorney Russ Pollock will be the guest speaker at the next Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills Brunch Speaker Series on Sunday, Dec. 15th, at the Pierce Middle School in Milton. His topic will be “Voir Dire and Trial: The Anatomy of Jury Selection and the Trial Process.” The brunch and talk are open to the public.

Meeting: Board of Selectmen

The Board of Selectmen will be meeting Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:30pm in the Cronin Conference Room at Town Hall. The agenda will include a hearing on “Classification of Property according to use” and a series of approvals. You can find the agenda for this and all town meetings here.

Meeting: Planning Board

The Planning Board will be meeting in the Cronin Conference Room at Town Hall on Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:30pm. (Note – the location conflicts with the BoS meeting. This meeting will likely be in the Blute Conference Room.) The agenda includes but is not limited to a hearing on a site plan approval for Blue Hills Bank at 480 Adams Street and updates on Master Plan and Housing Production Plan. Meet & Greet with new teen librarian Amy Rosa

Milton teens have the opportunity to meet and greet the new teen librarian every day after school during the week of December 2, 2013. Come join the new teen librarian, Amy Rosa, in the teen room, introduce yourself and get to know her a bit as well. Snacks with be given out to be enjoyed downstairs in the library café.
